Craig Ferguson: Welcome back, everybody. I'm here with the lovely... the lovely William Shatner, who, uh -- you said, yourself, you were Captain Kirk at one point. You are Captain Kirk.

( Cheers from the audience )

William Shatner: Well, I mean...

Craig: Because they're making another one. Aren't they making another film?

Shatner: J.J. Abrams is supposed to be making another one, and it's telling a story. I met with him, and he wants me to be in the movie. "But," I said, "how are you going to bring dead Captain Kirk..." -- because they're going to do the prequel, you know...

Craig: Oh, the prequel. Right.

Shatner: Yeah. So, there's going to be some young Captain Kirk. "How are you going to get old, dead Captain Kirk to young Captain Kirk?" And he [Abrams] said, "Yes, that is a bit of a problem!" (Chuckles)

( Light laughter from the audience )

Shatner: So, I don't know what they're going to do.

Craig: Well, they can do the, uh, they can do the, uh, you know...

Shatner: The science-fiction thing?

Craig: Yeah.

Shatner: Yeah, but it has to have some logic to it. How do you get there?

Craig: Well, the way they make the movies now, with the green screen and the things...

Shatner: No, no. Green screen is like making things happen, but what are you going to make happen? How do you get you to him and to him to her and the like?

Craig: Well, I don't know, that's why I do this!

( Laughter from the audience )

Shatner: You mean they haven't talked to you yet about it?

( Laughter )
