Scott Bakula

Scott Bakula (Captain Jonathan Archer)

Scott Bakula: Well, we kind of knew this was going to be our last year. I think we were, you know, somewhat optimistic because we were having such a good season. And we opened a new night for a network, and, uh -- without a lot of help -- and our fans had followed us. And, you know, we were doing pretty well in that respect. I think, you know, the nature of actors certainly is you're always hoping for, you know, things to continue, and we were all having such a positive experience with the show. We were, you know, we hoped, but, at the same time, we knew that, you know, it was going to probably be our last year. So, we were grateful to get another year.

John Billingsley

John Billingsley (Doctor Phlox)

John Billingsley: Don't want in any way to slight the fans and their passion for the show, but the numbers are the numbers. And at the end of the day, the numbers for this franchise have been diminishing for a number of years. We really, this franchise, really peaked during the last year of Next Gen. Since then, after, you know, three more shows, I think it's just reached a point where except for that passionate hardcore audience -- and bless them for being as partisan as they are -- the hunger isn't quite there anymore. And maybe that will return.

Dominic Keating (Lieutenant Malcolm Reed)

Dominic Keating: I was watching Trekkies 2 again the other night. It was on cable, and I caught 40 minutes of it. And, I remember when I first saw it here at Paramount, at the screening, and you come away and you just see the phenomenon that is this show. And never mind the show itself, but everything that goes on behind the show is just so phenomenal: The charity work, and the, uh -- I don't know -- the sense of hope and collectiveness and unification that this show brings to so many people around the world in so many guises. It's truly an awesome thing.

Connor Trinneer (Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III)

Connor Trinneer: I think being a part of any legacy, that's a positive legacy, is a great thing. I grew up watching the, um, Original Series, you know, on reruns and stuff, coming home from school. I can't say I was a giant sci-fi fan, but I think I watched every one of those episodes. But, I think it's an extraordinary thing that STAR TREK has been around as long as it has, and affected and influenced people as much as it has.

Scott Bakula

Scott Bakula (Captain Jonathan Archer)

Scott Bakula: Last episodes are hard to write, they're really hard to write. It's very... it's emotional. It's also fun, a lot of funny stuff in it. Um, it's nothing that I would've ever thought of for our final episode, and yet I think Rick and Brannon did, you know, a good job. It's... there's a lot going on, you know. You've got a lot of history here, so it's not just... in a funny way, it's kind of become not just about ending our show, you know. It's about, kind of, bringing this 18 years, starting with Next Gen -- and Star Trek on television back to the '60s -- kind of wrapping it up, and kind of putting all the pieces in place, so that everybody can kind of understand them, you know. So, you know, I think with that it's a tall order, and I think they've done... I think fans are going to be... I think, you know, I hope, that they're going to be happy.
