Mike Mignola:I just thought it would be great to do a comic where I didn't care a whit if people liked it. I would just do something I thought was funny.
Screw-On Head
Mignola reads from the comic book:"At this juncture, we had hoped to present the secret origin of Screw-On Head, but, as it turns out, the damn thing's a secret. So instead, we present three horrible old women and a monkey. Cheers!"
Mignola:And I got to draw horrible old women and a monkey. It started out as kind of a commercial, sort of a toy idea, but by the time I'd finished with it, it had become this completely un-commercial weird thing about a mechanical head working for Abraham Lincoln.
Mignola:It's one of my favorite things I've ever done, and amazingly enough, it found an audience.
