David S. Goyer: This show is sort of about subverting expectations. So, I think that it's... Brannon, when Brannon came on board, we started talking about... we... We wanted to surprise people, and the way that the alien race sort of makes contact, and if indeed they are invading, the way that they're doing it is, to my mind, something that we haven't seen before.

Brannon Braga: It's a seasonal mystery where each episode is going to reveal a little bit more of that mystery, as to what's going on.

Braga: And some of the mechanisms the aliens are using -- for instance, in the pilot, we learn that they're bio-forming us, they're using our own DNA to transform us into them -- we thought was a cool new idea, and some of the ways that manifests are very, very creepy.
