Jacqueline McKenzie

JACQUELINE MCKENZIE ("Diana Skouris")

Jacqueline McKenzie: It is about a group of people in society who have been marginalized, trying to find a voice and trying to find some level of acceptance in society, in mainstream society, without being vilified, without being... um, well, just ostracized and ridiculed and not treated with any equality. And that's THE 4400.

Scott Peters

SCOTT PETERS, Co-Creator & Executive Producer

Scott Peters: Starting in season two, we take the characters in much different directions than where we left them. We really are setting everybody up on this little bit of a launching pad, since we're doing a much larger arc this year and really sending them in different directions than we saw last year, partly because we don't want to retread old ground, but partly because it really sort of unlocks new areas for us to tell stories.

We're really sort of exploring, in the broader sense, a lot of different themes; a lot of themes that have to do with religion, that have to do with the role of government in our lives, that have to do with what happens after the aftermath of a huge, unprecedented event that we've never had to deal with before.

We sort of take our characters on a bit of a journey through those sort of more interesting themes, so that it's not just about the 4400 member of the week, and who's this guy, and what's his ability? It's much more complex and complicated, and hopefully more sophisticated than that. And it's interesting, because we're going to obviously be focussing very much on our ongoing characters and their lives and what's happening with them, but we also do introduce the new element of meeting a new 4400 member, seeing what their ability is and how they interact, and what's their role in the bigger puzzle.

Joel Gretsch

JOEL GRETSCH ("Tom Baldwin")

Joel Gretsch: We found out from last season that the 4400... that they come back and they have certain abilities, not always positive. Last year, we found out one guy was a serial killer. But there was some kind of reason why this serial killer was taken, um, so there is... it's very... it's not just so black & white. It's very confusing in trying to understand what is the overall purpose. My character of Tom does not know. Neither does Diana. We don't know. We're trying to piece each one together. And each episode you get some kind of an idea of where we're going and a lot of scratching of the head, like, trying to find out what's the next step. So, uh, my character is always trying to, uh... he's got his plate full of trying to figure everything out.

Patrick Flueger

PATRICK FLUEGER ("Shawn Farrell")

Patrick Flueger: I think the show really speaks to people, because, I mean, it's about... it's about humans. I mean, it's about, like, people taken, put in an extreme situation, and how they deal with it, you know? And I think that these people are going through very real, very real things. I mean, coming back, their lives being completely different; family members have moved on, family members aren't around any more because they've passed away or, you know, because they've gotten married to other people. The world is different.

These are situations that people go through every day. Maybe not to the extreme of being taken for 75 years and then returning in a ball of light, but these are situations that people see all of the time. And they're very human situations. And I think that, that... as humans, we like to watch people and connect with other people, and sometimes seeing somebody go through something that you've already gone through makes you feel pretty damn connected.

I think it's a really intriguing and interesting concept, and every time I get done with a script, I'm going, "Give me another one! What the hell's going on?" And I want to know what's going on, so I've got to think that people who are, you know, distanced from it a lot more than myself, watch it and say, "Give me another show! I want to watch it now!" I would hope so. That's... I get done watching the show and I think that, so... there's a little info for you. I am a fan.

Patrick Flueger

Flueger: Sci-fi fans are pretty amazing. I mean, they're just... they're, like, right there with you until the end. And... and they're just interested, and they care about it, they care about it. And if you piss them off, they'll let you know. Like, if they're like, "Listen, then you don't -- we don't like where the story..." they'll let you know. But if they like where the story's going, they'll let you know then too. I mean, sci-fi fans are pretty unbelievable.

Patrick Flueger

Flueger: If anybody out there is watching and you want to help a brother out, I think it'd be pretty cool to see myself as an action figure. So if any fans want to put an outcry for 4400 action figures, I support that idea very whole-heartedly!
